Laying the foundation
Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular sequence in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you your roof before the walls were stable, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. The evaluations done by Dr. Kanzic are designed to find underlying structural problems that promote degeneration and cause pain as well as immobility. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .
Phase 1 Eliminating Pain and Restoring Motion
If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Spinal changes noted on initial x-ray and examination are indicatve of an
underlying structural problem. These changes can affect the balance and curves of your spine and dictate the quality and degree of movement. It is during this initial phase of care that motion is restored to the spinal joints to alliviate pain. Remember, that symptoms represent the "tip of the iceberg" in all health issues. It is typical to need care 3 times per week for 2-3 weeks.
Phase 2 Spinal Change and Strengthening
This is the most intensive phase of care. The mobility you gain in Phase 1 is complemented by restoration of spinal curves and strengthening of the supportive spine muscles. It is typical to need care 3 times per week for up to 2 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.
Phase 3 Wellness
Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-2 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.
